Motivated by a desire to understand the human experience, and how this guides the way we move through our lives, is what lead Kala to pursue a career in mental health.

Kala has a strong background in working with trauma and helping people understand how our early life experiences, many of which we had no control over, have come to shape our thoughts and behaviour. Through providing unconditional support and nurturance, Kala firmly believes that all individuals have the power to change their experience and develop a wonderful relationship with themselves. It’s through this self-connection that positive self-esteem, self-acceptance and courage can grow to create a more rewarding life experience.

Through gently shifting and expanding our thinking, Kala believes that we can change our unhelpful patterns of behaviour to live a more fulfilling life.

Kala is down-to-earth and loves to work collaboratively with her clients to help them achieve their own unique therapy goals. She embraces the exchange of learning that she provides and receives from all of her clients and believes that every person radiates something unique and wonderful about them. She enjoys providing a warm, safe and nurturing environment for clients to explore their emotional needs and she utilises a wide range of evidence-based therapies that cover a broad range of mental health and psychosocial issues. She holds a strong belief in holistic health and believes that good mental health also works in conjunction with developing good physical and emotional wellbeing.

Kala loves being in and around water, yoga, meditation and mindfulness. She embraces a lifestyle that fosters connection to her beautiful loved ones. She loves adventures of all kinds and loves not knowing where life will flow next.

“Empowering people to learn skills to achieve their own unique goals for enduring emotional and mental health is something that gives me such joy. I’ve always felt that through the power of connection with others and unconditional support, people have the intrinsic ability to build a positive relationship with themselves and it’s through this connection that anything is possible.” Kala Nilsen

“Holistically, good mental health works in conjunction with developing and maintaining physical and emotional wellbeing.” - Kala Nilsen
